Spelling
This week we will begin Spelling! The children will copy the list of words into their Spelling notebook on Monday. I have set up the next page for homework; please follow that format for every homework assignment. The homework will be as follows;
Monday-write the words 2x’s each in their notebook and study.
Tuesday- write a sentence for each word numbered 1-6.
Wednesday- write a sentence for each word numbered 7-12.
Thursday-we will take a Pre-test. If your child spells all of the words correctly he or she is finished for the week. Any words spelled incorrectly must be written 5x’s each on Thursday night.
Friday -the Final Test will be given.

Phonics
This week we will work on the letters z and s and the suffix –s.

Reading
We will work on the story “Come Here, Tiger” on Monday and Tuesday. Please read the story and practice the key words with your child on those nights. We will take the Key Word Test on Wednesday. The new story will be “Look At Me.” Read that story and practice the new key words on Thursday night.


Math
We will be working on Addition Facts to 10 this week. Please review the addition facts at home. You can review orally or on paper, it is a lot easier for the students if they memorize the basic addition facts.

Science
Mr. Evans will be presenting a unit on the “5 Senses” this week! Their packets will be sent home next Monday, Sept. 15 and a test will be given on Tuesday, Sept. 16.


Notes
-THE BOOK FAIR IS AT SCHOOL THIS WEEK! Our day to shop is Monday. The Book Fair will be open on Tuesday night from 4-7pm if you would like to come and shop with your child.
