September 25

We began Spelling today!  We will always take a Pre-test on the first day of the new story in Reading.  Anyone that gets all of the first 10 correct will not have to do the Spelling lessons or homework.  If your child gets one or more wrong on the first 10, then he/she will have to do the Spelling work.  The high-frequency words are considered bonus words!!

The words will always be at the top of the Homework Note, please practice them nightly if your child didn’t get them correct on the Pre-test!

·         Today will be a free dress down for anyone that earned 3 stickers on their chart for “Respect.” It is Gym day, but students can wear anything other than ripped clothing or words that are offensive.

·         Have your child read “The Pack” decodable reader to someone at home and you can mark it on the AR Reading Log. **Keep the decodable readers at home for further practice.

·         In Science this week we will work on the 5 Senses!

Wednesday-Day 6 Music

·         We will review in Math today in preparation for the Unit 1 Assessment tomorrow.  Please review the Reteach work mat with your child tonight.

Thursday-Day 7 Keyboarding

·          We will take the Unit 1 Math test today!

·         Have your child read “A Tap and a Pat” to someone at home and you can mark it on the AR Reading Log.  **Keep the decodable readers at home for further practice.

Friday-Day 8 Phys. Ed. (wear Gym clothes and sneakers)

·         Today will be a free dress down for anyone that earned 3 stickers on their chart for “Participation.” It is Gym day, but students can wear anything other than ripped clothing or words that are offensive.

·         Picture Day is today!!  Money must be sent with the order form, if you would like to order pictures.  All students will get their picture taken, whether you are ordering or not, so that everyone will be on the class composite.  Students must follow the dress code for pictures.

Accelerated Reader Information

Accelerated Reader is a program that encourages students to read more!  There will be a reading log in your child’s homework folder.  The goal for each month will be to read at least 15 books.  If your child meets that goal, he or she will receive a Pizza Hut Book It coupon (October-March) or a treat during the other months.  Students must complete at least one reading log per month to get a chance to win the big prizes at the end of the year; for example, a bike! 

Books must be at your child’s reading level, because they must read to an adult.   Write the title, author and number of pages on the log and when all 15 spaces are filled in, please sign, date and return to the folder.  If the month is not over another sheet will be given!  At the beginning of each month a new log will be sent home.

If you need books for your child to read let us know!  We will also give the students some time to work on AR here at school, so please always return the log to the homework folder.  Any questions please call or email!
