Phonics
We will work on Final, Stable Syllables this week. We will have a Phonics Reader on Monday and Thursday.

Math
We reviewed Subtraction to 10 today and will take the Chapter 8 Test tomorrow. We will work on Addition and Subtraction facts to 12 for the rest of the week!

Reading
We will continue with “Honey Bees” this week. Please review the wordlist and story nightly. We will take the oral test for that story on Wednesday and the Vocabulary and Comprehension test on Thursday. We won’t get our next book until after the Christmas break.





Notes
-Tomorrow is the Bake Sale! Each child may spend .50 to buy two snacks or .25 to buy one. If you are sending donations to the Bake Sale, they must be store bought and wrapped.
-The fundraiser pick-up is on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Please remember to pick up your items!! This is the only day for picking up!
-We will go to the High School on Friday morning to see the band and chorus perform!
-Our Christmas Party will be on Wed., December 23 at 1:30! We do not exchange gifts, but if you would like to send in a donation for the Hillside SPCA you may do so.

Phonics
We will work on the vowel digraph oo, the letter Jj and the FLOSS RULE this week. There will be homework in Phonics on Thursday night! It will be Homework Sheet 51 please check over that with your child and return it on Friday.

Math
We will continue to work on Subtraction to 10 this week. We reviewed Chapter 7 today. We will take the Chapter 7 Test tomorrow! Chapter 8 will be more practice for subtracting to 10.

Reading
We will begin our new story “Life in the Forest” on Wednesday. Please practice the word list and listen to your child read the story orally at home each night. We will take the Oral Word List Test next Tuesday, December 8 and the Vocabulary and Comprehension Test on Wednesday, December 9.


Notes
-We will shop at SANTA’S SHOP on Wednesday morning at 11:00. Please send your child’s money in an envelope with instructions on how to spend it!

Notes
-NSE is collecting items for the soldiers for MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY! Items such as beef jerky, individual bags of snacks, cookies, crackers, gum, hard candy, cashews, peanuts, pens, puzzle books, playing cards, hot chocolate, coffee bags, flavored packets for bottled water, baby powder and wipes, body wash, hand sanitizer, chap stick, conditioner, granola bars, socks deodorant, q-tips, soap, tissues and shampoo. We will be collecting these items up until Friday, October 23.
-We will have a PTO sponsored show on Friday at 9:15. It is a fun game show called “Brainshow Mania.” The students get to participate in a real game show!!!
-Please send the $4.00 party money as soon as possible.
-Thursday is Picture Retake day. The first packet must be returned in order to have a re-take.

Wednesday- Students will complete a “Fill-In-The-Blank” worksheet using words 6-10 in the packet provided and study.
Thursday-We will take a Pre-test. If your child gets all of the words correct then he or she is finished with Spelling for the week. If not, corrections must be written 3 times on paper provided.
Friday-The Final Test will be given to anyone that didn’t get 100 on Thursday!

Phonics
This week we will work the letters Kk, Cc and Bb. We will also learn the “k and c rule” this week. There will be a phonics reader “The Cat Cap” on Friday. Please read over that with your child.
**The “k and c rule” is that k comes before e, i or y and c comes before a, o, u or any consonant. **
Reading
We will work on the story “Get the Egg” this week. Please review the new word list nightly. The oral test on the word list will be given on Wednesday. The hardcover Reading books will be sent home nightly, as well. Please read and discuss the story with your child. The written Vocabulary and Comprehension Test will be given on Friday!

Math
We reviewed subtraction to 6 today. The Chapter 3 Test on Subtraction to 6 will be given on Tuesday. We will begin Chapter 4 “Using Subtraction” on Wednesday. We will subtract to 10. Please practice at home!!!

We will continue working on our second story “Pig in a Wig”. The hardcover Reading book will be sent home on Monday and Tuesday nights. Please have your child read the story “Pig in a Wig” to you and ask questions as they read. We will take the written Comprehension and Vocabulary Test on Wednesday.

Math
We will be working on Addition to 10 this week. Please review the addition facts at home. You can review orally or on paper, it is a lot easier for the students if they memorize the basic addition facts.


Science
We will be working on “Balance” in FOSS Science this week!

Please practice the Spelling list at home nightly. We will begin Spelling on Wednesday and there will be written homework on Thursday. The homework will be to complete pgs. 1 and 2 from the Spelling workbook. We will take the first Spelling test next Thursday (Sept. 10).

Phonics
This week we will work on the letters Pp, Ii, Ll and Aa.

Reading
We are working on a unit about animals. We will be reading and writing about animals in this unit!
There will be a decodable reader, “Tap! Tap! Tap!” sent home on Wednesday. “The Pack” will be sent home on Thursday. Please read those with your child and keep them at home.

Math
We will be working on Addition this week. Please review the addition facts at home. You can review orally or on paper, it is a lot easier for the students if they memorize the basic addition facts.
