Accelerated Reader Information

Accelerated Reader is a program that encourages students to read more!  There will be a reading log in your child’s homework folder.  The goal for each month will be to read at least 15 books.  If your child meets that goal, he or she will receive a Pizza Hut Book It coupon (October-March) or a treat during the other months.  Students must complete at least one reading log per month to get a chance to win the big prizes at the end of the year; for example, a bike! 

Books must be at your child’s reading level, because they must read to an adult.   Write the title, author and number of pages on the log and when all 15 spaces are filled in, please sign, date and return to the folder.  If the month is not over another sheet will be given!  At the beginning of each month a new log will be sent home.

If you need books for your child to read let us know!  We will also give the students some time to work on AR here at school, so please always return the log to the homework folder.  Any questions please call or email!

May 15

There won’t be any more written homework, but look for Readers in the Homework folders and continue to read and discuss those with your child!  The more your child reads the better!!!  We will continue working in our Reading Textbook, so you will still see work coming home and our next story is “I’m a Caterpillar!” 

To go along with our reading story, we will work on the Metamorphosis in Science! 

We will begin working on adding double digits in Math!! Please look over the Math work mats and worksheets that your child brings home!!
