Phonics
We will work on prefixes and suffixes this week.
Math
We will work on “Solid Figures and Plane Shapes” this week. Please practice adding and subtracting to 20 at home!

Reading
We will take the Vocabulary and Comprehension Test for “Ben Franklin” on Wednesday. Read the story tonight and go over the important words. This is the last story in our Reading books!


Notes
-First grade didn’t get to do the Bike Rodeo at the Carnival. Hopefully it will be rescheduled for a later date!
-There is no school on Monday, May 31 in observance of Memorial Day!

We will work on digraphs ie and ew, and suffixes –er, -est, –ful this week.

Math
We will take the Chapter 24 “Telling Time” Test tomorrow. There are homework sheets to practice for the test in folders today! We will work on Chapter 15 “Solid Figures and Plane Shapes” and “Adding and Subtracting to 20” this week.

Reading
We will continue with “Alexander Graham Bell” today and take the Vocabulary and Comprehension Test on Tuesday. Review that story tonight. We will begin “Ben Franklin” on Wednesday. Please practice the wordlist and read the story nightly. The test will be next week.

Science
We will discuss INSECTS this week!

Notes
- We will be walking over to the High School to see the Spring Concert on Friday morning at 9:00. Please make sure your child is here on time and is wearing sneakers for the walk over!
-Next Monday, May 24 is the PTO Carnival! If you are allowing your child to do the Bike Rodeo, please make sure to have the permission slip signed and returned to school by Thursday! Also, look at the weather and dress your child accordingly. All students must wear socks and sneakers. An extra pair of socks is recommended due to the dew on the grass at the bouncy activities. If it is to be sunny, please put sunscreen on your child before school. You can send it to school with their name on it if you would like.

We will continue with “Simple Machines” today and take the Vocabulary and Comprehension Test on Tuesday. Review that story tonight. We will begin “Alexander Graham Bell” on Wednesday. Please practice the wordlist and read the story nightly. The test will be next week.

We will work on a Butterfly Unit this week!

- We had a program with the students from TAT (Teens Against Tobacco) today!
-We do have Snack Time every morning! Please remember to send a snack to school daily. You may send a pack of snacks and I will distribute one to your child daily, if you would like.

No Spelling this week!

Reading
We will begin "Simple Machines," the Vocabulary and Comprehension Test will be next Tuesday.
Read the story and practice word list nightly.

Math
Keep practicing counting coins to $1.00. A test will be given on Friday that covers trading coins and counting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to $1.00.

Our Field Trip to Hershey is on Wednesday, May 5. Please make sure to bring a lunch in a disposable bag, wear sneakers and your royal blue NSE t-shirt and be on your best behavior!!!
